OUR OPINION now, is “DO NOT BUY FROM ABSOLUTELYPETS.” We bought Preventic collars from AbsolutelyPets earlier this year. We had used the same type of collars (bought at our vets) that worked to kill ticks before biting our dog (or us). BUT, the collars that were bought from AbsolutelyPets seemed to not work. So, we took the collar and placed it in a container with a local tick which was sitting near the collar on our dog. We left the collar and tick in a container together for days and the tick walked all over the collar and did NOT die. Actually, it is still alive and moving around near the collar. So, I called AbsolutelyPets and asked for a refund. They said that their return policy is 2 weeks and since I did not return the product within the 2 week window, the collars could not be returned. I explained that the collars were still prior to their expiration date but do not seem to work. They said that they cannot be returned. I then asked if the collars were possibly fake? …or could have been deactivated due to possibly mishandling, storage or shipping procedures by their company? I asked because we kept the product in a cool, moisture free, dark environment and had not opened the containers until used. The collars were within the proper unexpired period and used by us properly (as directed). We will NOT BUY FROM ABSOLUTELYPETS in the future because of this experience. Other vendors are available. This has been a great product for us. Topical preventatives had been very problematic for us as our dog will roll in “stinky stuff” promptly after application. More impressive was how quickly it came in mail from Amazon. 2 days after ordering it was in my mailbox. Having no ticks is a good thing.

We have only used tick repellent products found in local stores, both collars and liquid drops. Then I read the reviews here after searching for a better tick repellent for dogs.
The Preventic Collar is the first product that keeps ticks off of our dog. We found two ticks within a week of putting the 2-PACK PREVENTIC Collar (25″) (One Size Fits Most Dogs) on our dog, one near an ear, the other on his back, but both ticks were not tightly latched to his skin. I check him for ticks every other day. He has had no ticks on him in almost three weeks of using the Preventic collar. The 25-inch collar fit our medium-size dog (about 45 pounds) with only two inches cut off the collar end.
We live in a wooded area in northern Minnesota, so we have ticks showing up in May. We have a border collie mix dog that is over 10 years old, and he is an outside dog; he will not come into our house unless it is thundering outside. I looked for the Preventic collar in local stores, and found none. And the price here is as good or better than the other brand products in stores here. When I used liquid drops on our dog, he would roll in the dirt to get it off his skin, if he could. We assume the drops irritated his skin. I hope we have our dog long enough to finally let him enjoy more tick-free summers.
I would have like a better estimation on delivery date. Our Preventic was sold by flea_doctor via amazon. I worried I would be picking ticks off our dog for most of May. I was happily surprised when the Preventic collars arrived in less than a week from my order date. Life is good now. A dog’s life.

My dog is extremely sensitive to many products. Even though this is a powerful collar (chemical) we’ve lucked out with it. She doesn’t wear it every single day which, for her, helps. She finds the ticks before I do. Least little thing she gets on her bothers her. Any ticks found are dead ones. I’ve also used the company’s (Virbac’s) other products with great success. The best thing about this purchase was the seller. Great, fast service with good communication!

Great flea collar for dogs that can not use the frontline or the one’s with the liquid that are applied to the skin. (our dog has an allergy to frontline on her skin )
It does not smell or have an greasy feeling if you touch it.
