We saw this toy at a friend’s home, and their dog absolutely loved it. Ours took to it immediately, so we got him one of his own. It’s a little oversized for him, but that’s part of why he likes it so much. The sound it makes is low pitched (not like your traditional squeaking toys) so it’s much easier to deal with when our dog roams the house for 15 minutes at a time squeezing this thing and making it quack. The first one I bought was destroyed by a friend’s dog, and the second one had its beak and feet (the bright-colored bits, of course) torn off within a day, but otherwise this thing has held up very well. Our dog tends to puncture or otherwise break squeakers, but all the AKC brand toys have been able to withstand his onslaught.
We’re pretty much loyal AKC customers at this point. Between this and the flying squirrel, we really don’t need any other stuffed animals. And the prices here on Amazon always beat out brick-and-mortar stores.

We bought one of these at the Dollar Store and it lasted at least a week, so I decided to get another one. Couldn’t find it in the stores, ordered it online. This time the mallard was dissected very quickly. Our dog goes after the squeaker, and she had the toy opened in a day or two. I wish I could find a toy like this that is more sturdy.

I have a four month old lab, who has had this toy since she was about three months old. She isn’t an obsessive chewer, by any means, but like any self respecting labrador puppy she does like to destroy stuff when she can. However with this toy she just bites and makes the duck sound go off, and she has never really seemed to want to tear it apart or anything.
To be sure it is thorougly saturated with slobber, and it doesn’t look as pretty as the first day we got it, but it has held up surprisingly well. When it inevitably goes the way of the dodo, I’m sure I’ll buy another one.

The stitching came out along the belly after about 2 days of light to moderate play. Replaced it w/the Hedgehog which is still going strong after 4 months.

This toy is the closest you’ll get to cat nip, but for a dog.. This is the second one I’ve bought, and frankly.. I enjoy watching her go nuts.. Def, not durable enough to be left alone wth for more than a few moments.. Primarily a retriever toy.
