I don’t know who loves this thing more, my dog, or myself. I have a 9 month old chocolate lab that runs around with this monkey all the time. She’s had this monkey for two months now and it has held up. In the first week she pulled a few stitches loose, and a week ago the squeaker stopped working, but other than that, this thing is in immaculate condition considering it’s owner.
In regards to the squeaker itself, it is wonderful. I haven’t found another squeak toy I do like.
I have already purchased a second one for my other lab who is 2 years old.
My dog loves this toy, and even takes it to bed with her! I’m astounded at how strong it is-she tosses it around, chews on it, gnaws on its limbs, and it is still looking as good as new. The squeaky makes an interesting “monkey” sound that she likes, and I find preferable to the high pitched squeaker in most pet toys. She is a 12lb dachshund/maltese mix, and this is the perfect size for her to play with. I definitely recommend it.

I put it in the pen with her and her litter-mates the day I picked her up and she went for it right away. On the ride home she cuddled up with it and was relaxed the whole way. (The Curly Monkey may have had an influence on her choosing me as I feel she did.)
This dog toy seems like it would shred with all the curly strings but that part seems very durable. It is a good size; it fits in my hand to shake at Isis and also easy for her to carry around the house.
The only problem I have had is with the squeaker. It is in the body and with all the stuffing it is hard to find and make squeak. After 3 weeks it seems Isis has found it enough to bite a hole in the squeaker so it no longer squeaks (the 4 stars), but the toy itself is still together. Isis still snuggles up to it and carries it around.
Even with the squeaker issue I would still recommend this toy.
08/07/2010 Isis is now 5 1/2 months old and still has her Curly Monkey. Of course she also has many new toys since this purchase but this is one she plays with a lot. We don’t play tug-o-war with it to put that kind of strain on it. I’ve added a video to show her snuggled up with it today. Enjoy.

Yes, it’s durable. My Golden usually opens holes in minutes but he’s gone 2 weeks without damaging it yet.
But this may be because the squeaker is very hard to squeak. If the monkey doesn’t squeak why should he be interested in it?
This monkey needs a better squeaker.

My puppy ripped this toy to shreds within the first 15 min he had it. He is a 15 pound lap dog.
