This “puncture resistant” toy was torn up by my 10-pound chihuahua mix while I was at work and ended up blocking his intestines. He required immediate attention and surgery to the tune of $3500 altogether. Nothing but cloth toys from now on.

We are on our 2nd set of 2 Golden Retrievers and have used the large black kongs for years. I estimate we have gone through 8-10 Kongs over 20+ years. If a Kong wore out, it was usually from biting for the cookie inserts at the larger end hole.
But I just noticed that our 2 most recent Kongs have split at the seam between the largest ring and the middle ring. I estimate that I have had these Kongs for 1- and 2-years.
Since I have never seen this split and it seems like very premature wear compared to all of our other Kongs I emailed the company for a replacement. I got ” Sorry- we only have a 30 day guarantee”. Thanks Alot!
I would think a conpany would take a look at the circumstances and provide a replacement for an obvious seam failure, when the product looks new?
ANYONE ELSE SEEING SEAM SPLITS RECENTLY? BEWARE OF CHEAPER KONG PRODUCTS – PERHAPS THEY ARE CUTTING QUALITY TO SAVE MONEY IN THIS BAD ECONOMY OR MAYBE THIS IS A MARKETING MOVE FOR PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE TO MAKE US BUY MORE KONGS UNNECESSARILY?

Well I was very disappointed with this product. I have a lab mix and he just destroyed this in about an hour. My husband and I were so shocked. We couldnt believe how fast he demolished it. Not worth the money!

Top ring of this toy was able to be chewed off within 30 minutes by a 15 year old shepard. No food was in toy. He weighs under 50lbs.

Your dog won’t destroy this toy. My APBT goes to town on this thing for hours and hours at a time and it’s still just like the day I bought it. Worth every penny. It does smell like vulcanized rubber, but that’s for a reason… it’s tough like vulcanized rubber. If your dog doesn’t like it at first, pack some peanut butter inside it.
If you have a dog with softer jaws the red regular Kong will be fine, but for bullys and other powerful breeds, this is just what you need.
